Professor Charles Soludo, the governor of Anambra State, has enlisted the cooperation of the government at all levels, organisations, and individuals to combat the flooding threat that is now wreaking havoc in several areas of the nation, particularly Anambra State.
When he visited the IDP camps for flood victims in Onitsha North Local Government Area, which also housed displaced people from Anambra West, on Thursday, he made the call. He also went to the IDP camps in the Anambra East Local Government Area in Umuoba Anam and Ekpe Nneyi, Umueri.
In order to propose a long-lasting solution to the flood destruction, which Soludo stated had sadly become an annual occurrence, he underlined that the flood originated in Cameroon and surged from there. He urged the Federal Government to communicate with the government of Cameroon.
The governor made a plea for assistance to lessen the suffering of those who had been uprooted by flooding across the nation in general and Anambra state in particular.
He sympathised with the victims but also expressed hope that the flood will subside in the coming weeks so that they may return to their individual houses.

Therefore, he advised building dams or diverting canals to aid in the problem’s resolution.
He declared, “The government of the state of Anambra is making every effort to lessen the suffering of the people. Due to the flooding of their homes, properties, and farms, they require assistance both now and in the future.
“Delta State residents are being welcomed to the IDP Camp in Onitsha North. More than 400 displaced people have come here just today, according to Soludo.
“As Ndi Anambra, we are deeply concerned and troubled by the flood crisis. We have taken note of everything you’ll need to have a bare-bones comfortable stay. As a government, we’ll do everything we can to supply things like power, foams, soaps, mosquito nets, and other things.
“It is saddening that each year, flooding forces families to flee their homes. I’ve been to the clinic and the kitchen, and I’ve seen the roofs with damaged zinc that leak when it rains. We’ll be there for you.
“This crisis has an impact on us all. The Anambra State government will provide assistance, and ideally the flood will abate within two weeks. The government will still visit your properties when you move back in to determine your losses. All that you have lost can be restored with our assistance.
Later, Chief Chinedu Obidigwe, a lawmaker for the Anambra East and West Federal Constituency, accompanied the governor and presented footballs for the kids to play with.
