Nigerians aren’t ready to be given the right to bear arms, according to Dr. Ahmed Audi, Commandant General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps.
When he was in Abuja for the News Agency of Nigeria Forum, Audi made the comment.
Ahmed Audi: “I vehemently disagreed with it.” There are still many small arms and light weapons in circulation today despite the absence of any laws.
“Civilization and education are involved.
“Even in Europe and America, where there is legislation allowing almost everybody who can drive to own a gun, they are trying to limit it right now because of how some events are playing out.”

Ahmed Audi continued: “Someone will just wake up and walk into a school and open fire on children everywhere in the world, but especially in Europe and America. You are aware that is insane.
Therefore, in my opinion, we are not yet at a point where citizens can carry weapons.
”The CG also discussed the efforts being made by the NSCDC to address conflicts between farmers and herders across the nation.”
Ahmed Audi said that the Corps has trained over 3,000 Agro Rangers in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture to protect farms and other agro-related investments.
According to Ahmed Audi, the unit is a specialised division that aids in bridging the gap between farmers and herders.
They’re still there, and we’ve already trained roughly 3,000 of them. As you can see from where I’m sitting, they wear this Agro Rangers costume.
“Using Alternative Dispute Resolution, they have resolved over 1000 cases involving farmers and herders around the country. They are part of a department called Peace and Conflict Resolution.
Ahmed Audi stated, “You can see them clearly in Borno, Yobe, Kaduna, Adamawa, and Enugu, and they are there working. (NAN).
