Aliko Dangote Foundation Extends Food Intervention to Kwara State
The Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) has continued its food intervention program in Nigeria, donating 25,000 bags of 10kg rice to indigent families across Kwara State. This initiative is part of the Foundation’s commitment to easing economic hardship and supporting vulnerable communities.
The distribution, which will cover all 16 local government areas (LGAs) of Kwara State, aligns with the Foundation’s broader effort to donate one million bags of rice worth N16 billion across Nigeria’s 774 LGAs.
Kwara State Government Applauds Aliko Dangote’s Humanitarian Gesture
The Aliko Dangote Foundation delegation, led by Ahmed Gobir, Group General Manager of Human Resources at Dangote Cement PLC, was welcomed by the Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, who was represented by his Deputy, Kayode Alabi, at the Ministry of Agriculture, Ilorin.
Speaking at the event on March 25, 2025, Alabi lauded Aliko Dangote’s commitment to humanitarian causes and economic relief efforts, describing his philanthropic gesture as an inspiration worth emulating.
“The donation of these rice bags is timely, especially as our Muslim brothers and sisters observe Ramadan and our Christian brethren are in the Lenten season. This act of compassion will provide much-needed relief to those fasting and struggling with economic hardship,” Alabi stated.
He further noted that the donation complements the Kwara State Government’s ongoing efforts to support vulnerable residents and underscores the power of public-private collaboration in combating poverty and hunger.

Speaking on behalf of Aliko Dangote, Malam Ahmed Gobir reaffirmed the Foundation’s dedication to fostering strong partnerships between the public and private sectors for the benefit of Nigerians.
“Out of the one million bags of rice designated for the entire federation, Kwara State has received 25,000 bags to be distributed across its 16 LGAs. The goal is to alleviate economic hardship and provide food security during this critical period,” he said.
Gobir highlighted that Aliko Dangote Foundation has consistently engaged in large-scale humanitarian projects, including initiatives focused on nutrition, health, education, and empowerment.
“For the second consecutive year, Aliko Dangote Foundation is donating one million bags of rice worth N16 billion across Nigeria. This initiative is not just about charity—it is about fostering sustainable support systems for Nigerians and Africans at large,” he added.

Alabi called on corporate organizations and wealthy individuals to emulate Aliko Dangote’s commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR).
“This generous act by Aliko Dangote Foundation serves as a reminder of the critical role philanthropists play in addressing poverty. I encourage other individuals and businesses to step up in supporting the less privileged,” he urged.
Commissioner for Agriculture: “This Initiative is Historic”
Kwara State Commissioner for Agriculture, AbdulAfeez Abolore, described the event as a historic moment for Kwara and a demonstration of true humanitarian service.
“With both Christians and Muslims currently in their respective sacred seasons, this food intervention will go a long way in addressing hunger and food scarcity,” he said.
He further stressed that the combined efforts of Aliko Dangote Foundation and the Kwara State Government will help reduce food insecurity and improve the well-being of low-income families.
Supervised Distribution to Ensure Fair Allocation
The rice distribution exercise was supervised by officials from the Kwara State Government, including representatives from the Hisbah Board and the State Community Development Program. Beneficiaries were selected through a transparent and fair process, ensuring that the aid reached those most in need.
Some beneficiaries, including elderly and physically challenged individuals, expressed their gratitude for the support. Several recipients had to be wheeled to the venue to collect their allocation, highlighting the urgent need for continued social support initiatives.
