ASUU Spitfires as Lecturers Receive November Full Salary Without Arrears

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has spitfire as lecturers have received their November salary without the payment of the eight-months arrears owed by the Federal Government.

In a conversation with journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, a senior member of the union at Bayero University Kano revealed this.

Nigerian academics working under the auspices of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, have been paid in full.

The academics have received their full pay for the month of November 2022, according to the PUNCH,

It was gathered that the Federal Government continued to withhold the eight-month arrears.

ASUU said: “Some of our members have begun to get salaries, and I can affirm that we received our entire November salaries.”

However, the arrears remain unpaid as the Federal Government failed to pay the striking lecturers for the eight months that the union was on strike.

According to Chris Ngige, Minister of Labour and Employment, academics will be paid pro-rata (half-pay) in October 2022.

Across the country, professors have been protesting the Federal Government’s decision.

The union’s National Executive Council is slated to conduct a critical meeting in the coming days to discuss the withheld salaries.
