The 2023 elections will take place in super camps in 19 of the state’s 27 local government districts due to the ongoing insecurity in Borno state.
According to the REC, Borno State, has 27 LGAs, three senatorial districts, ten federal seats, and 28 state constituencies, has 2,514,228 registered voters, 5,071 polling places, and 312 registration areas.
Mohammed Ibrahim, the Borno state’s resident electoral commissioner for the Independent National Electoral Commission, made this declaration on Friday, December 9 at a news conference in Maiduguri.
He described a “super camp” as a location where elections could be held in a secure manner and stated that such camps would be set up in advance of the elections in Borno State.
As their counterparts in seven of the nine local government areas in the central senatorial zone, the inhabitants of all nine of the local government areas in the northern senatorial zone would cast their votes in mega camps, according to the REC.

According to Ibrahim, voters in three of the nine local governments in the southern senatorial zone in Borno would participate in mega camps.
According to him, voters in the remaining eight LGAs—two in the central zone and six in the southern zone—will cast their ballots as usual.
The INEC REC in Borno added that “The commission is monitoring and tracking the campaign finances of parties and candidates” with the start of electioneering campaigns.
