The Court of Appeal in Abuja halted the enforcement of its own judgement on Friday, which criticised the extradition of Kanu from Kenya to Nigeria and overturned the allegations against him for terrorism.
In a decision, Justice Haruna Tsanami upheld the Federal Government’s request and ruled that the judgment’s implementation should be suspended.
The Federal Government had asked that the judgment’s enforcement be halted while its Supreme Court appeal was being decided.
In a succinct judgement, Justice Tsanami determined that the rebuttal affidavit Kanu’s legal team submitted in opposition to the Federal Government suit was false.
