Cholera Outbreak Raises Alarm in Ogun State Government

The Ogun State government informed citizens about the cholera outbreak in Ijebu North local government on Sunday night.

There is an outbreak of cholera in the Ijebu North Local Government Area of Ogun State, according to a statement issued by Dr. Tomi Coker, Special Advisor to the Governor on Health.

“Cholera is known to arise during rainy seasons and may also be linked to subpar personal and environmental cleanliness,” she said.

Dehydration results from the frequent stooling, which can occur with or without vomiting. Cholera can be fatal if severe dehydration is not treated.

According to Vanguard, Coker encouraged the populace to alert the nearest government health facility of any occurrences of stooling with or without vomiting as well as the LGA DSNO: 08069788449.

They should also maintain good personal and environmental hygiene, it was said.

“Citizens should routinely wash their hands before and after going to the restroom or eating.”Utilize clean water, purify it before using it, and boil it before drinking. “Before eating, thoroughly wash and boil food.”

Avoid open defecation and watch what you eat and drink because cholera is brought on by contaminated water or food.
