Northern Christian leaders of the APC, led by Yakubu Dogara, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, and Babachir Lawal, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, have agreed to adopt a political party that will safeguard the interest of the christian.
The APC Northern Christian leaders, led by Yakubu Dogara; and, agreed to focus on issues that unite them as a people rather than encouraging attacks on sensitive religious issues in the name of politics.
According to them, voting along religious lines in the 2023 general election may have severe effects on Nigerians and endanger national progress.
This was unveiled among the Northern Christian and Northern Muslim political leaders in the All Progressives Congress on Sunday.
They also resolved to support one of the presidential candidates in order to defeat the APC’s Muslim-Muslim ticket, despite public outrage.
The decisions were stated in a communiqué jointly signed by Dogara and Mukhari Shagari, a former deputy governor of Sokoto State and ex-Minister of Water Resources during President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration, following a consultative meeting held in Abuja on Saturday.
A former governor of Adamawa State, Boni Haruna, Christian was also there, as was a former governor of Kwara State, Abdulfattah Ahmed; an ex-Minister of Sports, Damishi Sango; Senator Idris Ahmed Umar; and two former deputy governors of Kogi State, Yomi Awoniyi and Simon Achuba.
“In accordance with their communiqué released on July 29, 2022, the APC Northern Christian leaders met with certain Muslim brothers and sisters from the 19 northern states and the FCT and resolved as follows:
“That we have committed to collaborate in order to promote unity, peace, and national cohesion.”

“In light of the foregoing, we have agreed to form a committee tasked with devising strategies for achieving the goals indicated in this resolution.”
