A Federal High Court in Lagos has rejected the Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi’s request to hold political rally at the controversial Lekki Tollgate.
It ruled on Wednesday that the #ObiDatti23 Forward Ever Rally organised by the Labour Party and its supporters, may not congregate at the Lekki Tollgate on October 1, 2022, as had been planned.
The court decided that Labour Party supporters may enter the Tollgate for their rally, but they are not required to congregate at the location.
The presiding judge also gave orders to Lagos State Commissioner of Police Abiodun Alabi and Inspector-General of Police Usman Baba to make sure the order was followed.

Justice Osiagor made the order on Wednesday while ruling on a Motion for Injunction brought by 10 plaintiffs, including nine lawyers, who are asking the court to, among others, restrain the Labour Party, its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, his running mate, Yusuf Baba-Ahmed, one Julius Abure and their loyalists from holding the rally.
Recall that last Friday, the court fixed September 28 for the hearing the Motion.
The Judge fixed the date after listening to the arguments from the Plaintiffs and Respondents’ counsels on the mode of service of court processes, among others.
