We’ll Not Rest Until Our Children Are Back To School – NLC

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) on Friday threatened to begin a nationwide strike following the Federal Government’s failure to proffer solution to the lingering industrial action embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
The President of NLC, Ayuba Wabba made this known on Friday during an interview on Arise TV.
The union has been on strike since February 14 following the failure of the Federal Government to accede to their demands.
Meanwhile, Wabba, while speaking on the outcome of the 3-day solidarity protest with ASUU, said that the protest did not yield the desired results.
His words: “A whole academic year has been lost and we are toying with the future of these children, no justifiable reason is good enough to say why we cannot address the issue, and that is why NLC had to wade in.
“I think at this point, we must also act. What you can do today, why should you wait to do it tomorrow? So time is of the essence and that is why we are doing that consultation after the consultation, we’ll also communicate our position to the government.
“Till our children are back to school we cannot rest on our oars. NLC will be willing to do anything to make sure that our children are back to school,” the NLC leader said on the resolve to embark on a nationwide strike in solidarity with ASUU.
