Diagold Schools Celebrates ‘Diagold Week’: A Fusion of Learning and Culture

In a vibrant celebration of culture, profession, and environmental awareness, Diagold Schools has proudly hosted its annual Diagold Week, a week-long series of enriching activities for students aimed at fostering community engagement and personal development. The proprietress of Diagold Schools, Ikorodu, Lagos, Mrs Adewoye Dupe was thrilled to share the highlights of the remarkable event, which culminated in their Professional Day.

Mrs Adewoye said: “Kicking off with Sanitation and Color Day, students participated in fun and interactive sessions focusing on the significance of cleanliness and environmental responsibility. “This was followed by Market Day, where mini-markets were set up in the school’s food compounds, allowing children to experience the joy of buying and selling goods—a unique opportunity for them to engage with their community in a hands-on manner.

“Wednesday marked our Cultural Day, a celebration of the rich traditions of Nigeria and beyond. Students tasted a variety of traditional dishes they may not have encountered before, thanks to the contributions from their dedicated parents.”

According to her, this experiential learning not only introduced them to their cultural heritage but also deepened their appreciation for the diverse foods that shape our identities.

Adewoye said: “Today, on Professional Day, a range of professionals visited our school to share insights into their careers, inspiring the next generation to envision their future aspirations. The passion and dedication of our guest speakers provided invaluable learning experiences, encouraging students to explore various career paths.

“As we look ahead, tomorrow promises to be equally exciting, with our Earth Talk and Fruit Day. Students will engage with environmental practitioners to learn about sustainability and the importance of protecting our planet. They will also enjoy a healthy fruit pole, reinforcing a message of well-being and environmental stewardship.

“At Diagold Schools, we believe in the importance of fostering community and cultural awareness among our students. Our Diagold Week, which takes place biennially, embodies this philosophy. Through activities like community cleaning initiatives and cultural immersion, we aim to instill a sense of responsibility and connection to their roots in our children.

“We are grateful for the support we receive from many organizations, which has played a significant role in promoting our educational endeavors and contributing to national economic possibilities. Together, we are paving the way for a brighter, more informed future for our students.

“As Diagold Week concludes, we are filled with gratitude for the shared experiences that have enriched our school community. We look forward to many more years of learning, growth, and celebration. Thank you to everyone who made this unforgettable week possible!”
