A police officer, two Ebubeagu operatives, and a hoodlum were reportedly murdered in a gun battle in Abakaliki of Ebonyi State.
It was gathered that the victims were killed as police engaged with unknown gunmen on the Presco campus of Ebonyi State University in Abakaliki.
Following the gun war, passersby and inhabitants of the Abakaliki metropolis were seen fleeing for safety, according to Vanguard.
According to sources, the incident happened about 8 p.m., when unidentified gunmen attacked police personnel on duty in the Area.
Several people were killed in a gunfight between members of the Ebubeagu Security group, the police, and unknown gunmen.

“Nawaooooo the gunshot last night was not minor,” a resident of Abakaliki metropolis (name withheld) stated.
“Nawaooooo the shooting last night was not tiny even inside the house, we took cover,” a resident of Abakaliki metropolis (name withheld) stated. I heard they killed one of the gunmen, bringing the total to four.
“The Akwa Ibom state police officer is married to an Eddah woman and has five children.” My neighbour has just returned from their location, which is currently at Police Headquarters. The eldest child is only ten years old.
“Police just confirmed the deaths of a police officer and one of the shooters but did not reveal the identity of Ebubeagu.”
Chris Anyanwu, the State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the occurrence when contacted.
According to Anyanwu, one police officer and an unknown gunman were killed during the fight between the police and the unknown gunmen.
Mr. Nnana Friday, the State Commander of Ebubeagu Security organisation, stated over the phone that no Ebubeagu operative was involved in the event.
“There is no Ebubeagu operative involved.” Not Ebubeagu, but IPOB.”
Recall that two Ebubeagu Security operatives were purportedly slain by unknown assailants in the State last week.
