Chairman Olukoyede Assures Justice and Support for Bereaved Family
The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has posthumously awarded a bravery honor to the late Assistant Superintendent of the EFCC (ASE II), Aminu Sahabi, who was tragically killed while on duty in Awka, Anambra State, on January 17, 2025.

During a condolence visit to the family in Sokoto State on February 7, 2025, Olukoyede expressed deep sorrow over the officer’s untimely passing, recognizing his gallantry and dedication to duty.
“As a commission, we share in the pains and grief of the loss, but we cannot question the time that the Lord calls us home. The late Aminu was a gallant officer full of promise in the service of his fatherland,” he said.
Accompanied by senior EFCC officials, including Director of Finance and Accounts, Ahmed Pate, and Acting Director, Sokoto Zonal Directorate, Nwanneka Nwokike, Olukoyede reassured the family that the EFCC remains committed to bringing those responsible to justice.
“His sacrifice will never be forgotten, nor will those accused of his murder go free. They must and will face the full wrath of the law,” he vowed.

In recognition of his service, Olukoyede presented a posthumous bravery award and a condolence letter on behalf of the EFCC and the Federal Government.
“Going forward, I want to assure you that the family will not be forgotten. I will personally ensure that his benefits are released to his next of kin immediately,” he added.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Justice Mohammed Shuaibu expressed gratitude to the EFCC for its swift intervention and support.
“We deeply appreciate the commission for naming a building at the EFCC Academy, Abuja, after our son, to immortalize his sacrifice.”

Following the condolence visit, Olukoyede inspected a guard of honor at the EFCC’s Sokoto Zonal Directorate and held meetings with officers to discuss enhanced security measures for personnel on duty.
