Emefiele Vows Not to Extend New Naira Notes Deadline, As Buhari Unveils It Wednesday
The new naira notes will be unveiled by President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, according to Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele.
Emefiele informed the media after the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting in Abuja that the unveiling would take place at 10am.
During the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, he claimed, it will happen in the Council Chambers.
Emefiele declared that the CBN would not postpone the timetable for the official introduction of the new naira notes until January 31, 2023.

CBN New Naira Policy Places Limits To Depositor’s Account
Emefiele also declared another increase in interest rates, this time to 16.5 percent while maintaining other conditions.
He claimed that the reason for raising interest rates is because the CBN’s effort to combat inflation has begun to show promising outcomes as a result of “tightening rates.”
