The five disgruntled governors of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, sometimes known as the “G5 Governors,” may have made up their minds about which presidential candidates they will support in the 2023 election.
Credible News gathered that Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) is at the top of their list. According to sources speaking to Businessday Thursday Morning, the LP candidate may have “earned the heart of the governors because of his capacity, age, and performance on the NOI polls thus far.”
Remember that the governors left the nation on Monday to meet in London for what is referred to as a “strategic meeting” before they decide who they will support in the February presidential election.
The PDP G5 Governors, who are led by Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, are debating who to support for president in the general election of 2023 with Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, Samuel Ortom of Benue, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu.
According to a source close to Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom, Peter Obi’s support may not be unrelated to his “ability to interface with people of various tribes and the capacity he has showed so far.”

The source, who wished to remain anonymous, claimed that Peter Obi exploited his trip to Benue to court Ortom’s support.
As you are aware, Obi visited Benue last week, and my governor, Samuel Ortom, welcomed him. Because of his love for the average person, the people of this state are overjoyed.
“I won’t be shocked if they support him. They might have considered the fact that he is capable, that his age is on his side, and that his dedication to the Nigerian mission is sincere.
He has proven to be selfless, and both the young and the old adore him. These might have thereby influenced their choice. Above all, he is ahead of the competition if you have been following the pre-election surveys thus far.
The G5 Governors will announce their choice in Ibadan, Oyo State, early in 2019. They are scheduled to return to the country on Friday, December 30.
Ike Abonyi, the media advisor for the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, stated that “the endorsement remains in the realm of speculations” while discussing the matter with BusinessDay.
“Whatever you are hearing right now is still speculative until we hear from them. All of these are permutations. They will be released beginning in January.
The governors, according to Abonyi, are considering all of their alternatives and will choose whoever is most willing to defend their interests.
They are making demands of everyone they are romancing while assessing all of their alternatives. Peter Obi will be their only choice if they decide not to back Atiku Abubakar as they have sworn not to do.
