The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has confirmed a helicopter crash involving a Sikorsky SK76 operated by East Wind Aviation. The incident occurred on **Thursday at approximately 11:22 am** along the waterways near **Bonny Finima** in the Atlantic Ocean, while the helicopter was en route from **Port Harcourt Military Base** to the **NUIMANTAN oil rig**. The aircraft had **eight people** on board at the time of the accident.

In a statement shared via his X account, Keyamo expressed deep concern over the incident and outlined the immediate actions taken in response:
– The **Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau** (NSIB) has been notified of the crash.
– Emergency response teams were activated promptly, and search and rescue operations are currently ongoing. This effort is supported by the **Nigerian Search and Rescue Unit**, the **Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority**, and other relevant agencies.
– Neighboring aerodromes have also been alerted for assistance in the rescue operations.

Keyamo noted that no **Emergency Locator Transmitter** signal was received from the aircraft, prompting manual efforts to determine the location of the crash. All available resources, including military support and low-flying aircraft, have been deployed to aid in locating and rescuing any survivors. As of now, **three bodies** have been recovered from the crash site.
