Heroic Police Operations Save 20 Captives from Armed Bandits in Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command successfully prevented two kidnapping attempts in Jibia and Faskari Local Government Areas (LGAs) on December 7, 2024, rescuing 20 captives during daring nighttime operations.
Gun Battle at Kwanar Makera Saves 10 Passengers
At about 7 PM, armed bandits opened fire on a moving vehicle along the Katsina–Magamar Jibia road near Kwanar Makera. Acting on a tip-off, operatives from the Jibia Divisional Police Headquarters responded swiftly, engaging the assailants in a gunfight.
Outnumbered and injured by gunshot wounds, the bandits abandoned their mission and fled. All 10 passengers in the vehicle were safely rescued without harm.
Second Rescue: Police Outgun Bandits at Marabar Bangori
At approximately 8:30 PM, a second group of armed bandits ambushed a vehicle near Marabar Bangori along the Funtua–Gusau road in Faskari LGA. Police operatives, alerted to the attack, arrived promptly and engaged the attackers in a fierce battle.
The superior firepower of the officers forced the bandits to retreat, leaving all passengers unharmed. One victim who sustained injuries during the incident is currently receiving medical care.
Police Leadership Praises Officers’ Heroics
Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, commended the officers for their professionalism and bravery in neutralizing the threats. He emphasized the importance of maintaining momentum in the fight against crime and reaffirmed the police’s commitment to ensuring the safety of Katsina State residents.
