The Comptroller-General of NIS, Mr. Isa Jere, has said that if there are no technical issues or application irregularities, passports will be issued three to six weeks after biometric data has been captured.
The Comptroller-General, NIS, Mr. Isa Jere, made this declaration on Wednesday at the opening of an upgraded e-Passport production facility in Kano, according to the NIS spokesperson, Mr. Tony Akuneme, who made the statement in an Abuja statement.
Jere, who was present in person through Assistant Comptroller-General for Passport Sadat Hassan, stated that the three to six week period would only be met if the NIN of applicants remained consistent.
The C-G claimed that the favourable responses from the several passport offices across the nation demonstrated that Nigerians had valued the innovative idea.
Jere emphasised that both the information in the two documents must match and that the NIN is still required for the issuance of passports.
We emphasise our official stance that passport applicants should refrain from working with third parties and instead submit their applications and fees directly online at passport.gov.
He remarked, “We will continue to deal with the difficulties of obstinate touts as well as a few bad apples among the staff who are focused on sabotaging the reform effort.”

Jere took advantage of the chance to inform the public about the malicious actions of this racketeering organisation, which had even gone so far as to spread false information about an immigration recruitment drive.
Whenever we receive authorisation from the Federal Government for recruitment, the Service will always publicise job openings as usual, he said.
According to Jere, his management team is still committed to enhancing service performance, with a focus on border security, effective and seamless passport administration, and the welfare of officers and men in the Service.
Jere continued by saying that until January 31 when the programme would stop, the Service planned to maintain the two-week processing window accessible to all Diasporas.
