Lagos Police Arrest Criminal Suspects for Various Offenses

The Lagos State Police Command has detained multiple criminal suspects, including two Pakistani nationals, for various offenses committed between February 27 and March 10. Among the arrested individuals were kidnappers, suspected cultists, and human traffickers.

The Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrests during a press briefing at the Command’s headquarters in Ikeja on Monday. He emphasized the commitment of the Lagos State Police Command to maintaining law and order, ensuring that criminals face justice.

Pakistani Nationals Arrested for Kidnapping Fellow Countryman

As part of the latest operations, Lagos police arrested criminal suspects involved in the kidnapping of a Pakistani national. The two Pakistani suspects, aged 19 and 28, were part of a seven-man gang that lured a 48-year-old Pakistani chef to Lagos under false pretenses.

“On March 5, a distress call was received at Ikeja that a 48-year-old Pakistani had been kidnapped by seven other Pakistani nationals,” Hundeyin stated.

According to the police, the victim was deceived into traveling from Kano to Lagos under the pretense of securing a job. Upon arrival at the airport on February 28, the kidnappers received him and later overpowered him in his hotel room on March 1.

The criminals robbed the victim of:

A Green Card
A Driver’s License
A National Identity Number (NIN) slip

Following the robbery, the suspects demanded a ransom of ₦50 million, which led to a partial payment of ₦1 million by the victim’s employer in Kano.

Upon receiving intelligence, the police launched a raid on the kidnappers’ hideout, successfully rescuing the victim unharmed. However, five other kidnappers managed to escape.

A Toyota Camry with registration number EDO-SGD-AE was recovered from the suspects. The police have intensified efforts to track down the remaining members of the gang.

Cultist Shoots DJ Dead at Lagos Hotel

The Lagos State Police Command also arrested a suspected cultist for allegedly shooting a disc jockey (DJ) dead at a hotel in the Abule-Ado area.

The tragic incident occurred at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, at a hotel on Community Road, Abule-Ado. According to Hundeyin, the suspect and his gang stormed the hotel, opened fire on the DJ while he was performing on stage, and inflicted machete wounds on him.

Police operatives responded immediately and pursued the attackers as they fled toward Festac. One suspect was captured while attempting to escape and was found in possession of a locally made shotgun with one live cartridge.

Murder Suspects Arrested After Fight Turns Fatal

On March 8, police apprehended two individuals for their alleged involvement in a fatal fight on NPA Road, Victoria Island.

Hundeyin stated:

“A 25-year-old victim reportedly engaged two others in a fight at NPA Road. The altercation resulted in severe injuries to the victim, who was rushed to Lagos Island General Hospital, Marina, where he was confirmed dead.”

Following the incident, detectives promptly arrested the two suspects responsible for the attack. An investigation is ongoing to uncover the full circumstances leading to the tragedy.

Police Rescue Three Kidnap Victims in Lekki Forest

In another major breakthrough, the Lagos police arrested criminal suspects linked to a kidnapping operation in Lekki.

“The three victims had gone to inspect land for an airport project in Lekki. As they were about to enter their car, five armed kidnappers ambushed them.”

The police’s anti-kidnapping unit launched a swift operation, forcing the criminals to abandon their captives and flee.

Human Trafficking: 27 Foreigners Rescued in Isheri-Osun

Hundeyin also revealed a human trafficking case involving 27 foreign nationals who were rescued from an apartment in Isheri-Osun, Lagos.

A woman who was being held captive managed to contact the police, leading to a rescue operation. When police officers arrived at the apartment, they broke in and found 27 individuals who had been lured into Nigeria under false job promises.

Investigations are ongoing to track down those responsible for the trafficking scheme.

Delivery Worker Kidnapped, Stripped, and Blackmailed in Iyana-Isashi

Another case involved a delivery worker who was kidnapped while making a delivery at Iyana-Isashi.

“When she arrived to deliver the items, a man and a woman dragged her inside a house, stripped her, and beat her up.”

The suspects took nude photos of the victim and demanded a ransom of ₦2 million, threatening to leak the pictures if she refused to pay. She was able to transfer ₦300,000 and promised to send the balance later.

However, she contacted the police, leading to the arrest of the two suspects.

Cultist Arrested with Hard Drugs During Stop-and-Search

On March 8, the Lagos police arrested a notorious cultist during a stop-and-search operation at Fagba Junction, Iju.

The 26-year-old suspect, who had been on the police wanted list for multiple cult-related killings, was apprehended while attempting to escape. Upon searching him, officers found:

Multiple wraps of illicit drugs
Other exhibits linking him to cult activities

Efforts are ongoing to arrest other fleeing cult members associated with him.
