LASU VC, Prof. Olatunji-Bello, Joins the Elite Ranks of Peace Studies and Practice Fellows
The Vice Chancellor, Lagos State University, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, has been admitted into the Fellowship of the Society for Peace Studies and Practice (SPSP). The professor of Physiology was admitted into the Body on Tuesday, 21st November 2023 at Abuja during the 20th Anniversary of the Body.
The Chairman, Board of SPSP, Prof. Suleiman Elias Bogoro, fspsp, while announcing her fellowship at the programme praised the VC for being a bridge builder and a stabilizing force that ensures peace in universities in the country.
Prof. Olatunji-Bello, who spoke on behalf of other inductees, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to be inducted into the fellowship of the Body. She assured that she and her colleagues would work towards the accomplishment of SDG 16, which includes a peaceful environment and inclusivity among universities in the country.
She said, “On behalf of all the inductees, I want to assure you that we will work to ensure the achievement of Peace Studies and its practices in our Universities. Our target must be to achieve Goal 16 because we can’t talk about peace when there is no inclusivity. When we talk about peace and security, we must include women and the less privileged amongst us.”
Prof. Olatunji-Bello’s induction follows similar accolades that the multiple award winning academic cum administrator has garnered within the last few months for her impactful leadership, especially in the area of human relations. Recall that the VC was a few months ago, inducted as a Fellow of the Nigeria Labour Institute.
