LASU Vice Chancellor Grants Students the Opportunity to Work While Pursuing Their Degrees
A chance for students to make extra money while they are in school was announced by the university’s vice chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji Bello, during a media chat hosted by the management of Lagos State University (LASU).
The media discussion, which was held earlier today in the Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate building’s conference room of the vice chancellor, was intended to engage students by way of student journalists and influencers and tell them of the university’s accomplishments and advancements.
One of the media influencers asked a question regarding the problems many students have paying for school fees and other expenditures.
The media professional, who had graduated from the institution, said that the work-study programme had helped to lessen financial pressures when they were a student.
The vice chancellor responded to this concern by saying that the work-study programme had been in place since the term of Dr. Abdul Lateef Hussein, the sixth substantive vice chancellor, and had continued during her own tenure.
We have student volunteers who work in the ICT, international academic engagement, LASU bakery, and health centre in exchange for stipends, she said.
The vice chancellor emphasised the university’s dedication to the wellbeing of students earlier in her welcome address.
She announced that over the previous two years, university administration has put policies into place and taken steps to prioritise students’ wellbeing.
In order to make more informed judgements about issues that concern them, they have chosen to respond to student inquiries and solicit direct feedback as a responsive and attentive management.
LASU seeks to improve the educational experience and support students in realising their full potential by implementing the work-study programme and interacting with students through media chats.
