Major Update: JAMB Suspends Law Programmes at 8 Nigerian Universities for 2025/2026 Academic Session

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a significant change regarding admissions for the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) programme at several universities across Nigeria.
JAMB’s Public Communications Advisor, Dr Fabian Benjamin, disclosed this in à release to Credible News on Wednesday.
He said that in alignment with the Council of Legal Education (CLE), the following institutions will not be offering law programmes for the 2025/2026 academic session:
- Kwara State University, Malete, Ilorin, Kwara State
- Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa State
- Redeemers University, Ede, Osun State
- Western Delta University, Oghara, Delta State
- Taraba State University, Jalingo, Taraba State
- Arthur Jarvis University, Akpabuyo, Cross River State
- Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State
- Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State
Importantly, the suspension at the Nigerian Police Academy will persist for two academic sessions, affecting both the 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 sessions.
Consequently, JAMB will not authorize admissions for candidates wishing to pursue the Law programme at these universities during the specified academic period. The prohibition on registration for the Law programme at the Nigerian Police Academy will also be in effect through the 2026/2027 academic session.
Benjamin explained that this suspension aims to uphold the standards of legal education in Nigeria and ensure that students receive quality training in their pursuit of a legal career.
