Renowned Nigerian gospel film director Mike Bamiloye has shared an emotional tribute to the late Moses Korede Are, affectionately known as “Baba Gbenro.” In a heartfelt Facebook post on Thursday, Bamiloye recounted his final conversation with the actor before his hospitalisation.

“When he was being taken to the hospital, we spoke on the phone. He said, ‘Please greet my friend for me. Please, Daddy, I will be well. Don’t let this discourage you from calling me on film location o,’” Bamiloye revealed. The poignant exchange highlighted Korede Are’s enduring commitment to his gospel drama ministry, even during his health struggles.

Bamiloye Reflects on the Legacy of Dedication to Gospel Drama

In his tribute, Bamiloye reflected on the profound lesson from Korede Are’s life and work. The founder of Mount Zion Faith Ministries noted the actor’s unwavering dedication to gospel drama, sharing that Korede Are actively working on the sets of Abejoye Season 8 and Abattoir 5 before his passing.

“We were on location for Abejoye Season 8. We did not know he was rounding off his assignment in the vineyard. He was on the set of Abattoir 5. We never knew he was rounding off,” Bamiloye wrote.

He also used the opportunity to remind others about the unpredictability of life, writing, “The lesson for us all is: When will the Master call you to come home and say, It is Closing Time?”

Describing Korede Are’s passing as “a gain for Heaven,” Bamiloye shared that the actor has found peace after a life dedicated to gospel filmmaking. He wrote, “He died here and woke up there eternally.”

Korede Are, whose role as Baba Gbenro in Abattoir left an indelible mark on audiences, was remembered as a servant of God who tirelessly devoted his talent to spreading the gospel. “He is resting now, from a series of movie shoots and learning many lines,” Bamiloye added, celebrating the legacy of a man who made an everlasting impact in the faith-based film industry.
