The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has made significant strides in its ongoing battle against organized crime, securing major arrests, recovering illegal firearms, and rescuing multiple kidnapping victims. These recent operations underscore the police’s commitment to maintaining national security and protecting citizens from criminal elements.
20 Suspects Arrested in Taraba Kidnapping Raid
The Force Headquarters revealed on Wednesday that police operatives, acting on intelligence, stormed a notorious kidnappers’ hideout deep in a Taraba State forest. The successful operation led to the arrest of 20 suspects and the recovery of numerous arms, ammunition, and logistical tools used by the gang.
“In Taraba State, police operatives, acting on credible intelligence, successfully stormed a criminal hideout in the Wamunchi dry season rice farms on February 26, 2025. The operation resulted in the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, seven rounds of live ammunition, the arrest of twenty (20) male suspects, and the recovery of one motorcycle, three Dane guns, and a bow and arrow,” stated ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer.
The suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further interrogation and profiling.
Police Rescue Three Royal Family Members in Oyo State
In a separate operation, police operatives, in collaboration with local vigilantes, raided a criminal hideout in Oyo State, successfully rescuing three abducted members of a royal family.
According to Adejobi, the Oyo State tactical teams responded to a report of a kidnapping incident in Agede Village, Moniya, Ibadan, on February 25, 2025.
“A coordinated response led to the safe rescue of three abductees: Olori Hakimat Sadia, 50 years old; Olori Rakyat, 45 years old; and Monsuru Ganiyu, 20 years old. They were abducted from the palace of Baale Tajudeen Inaolaji on February 24, 2025, by ten armed men. One of the abductors has been arrested.”
The police continue to pursue leads to apprehend the remaining kidnappers and dismantle the network responsible for the crime.
IGP Orders Tactical Deployment for Rescue of Afenifere Youth Leader
Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the urgent deployment of tactical squads, including the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), for the search and rescue of Prince Eniola Ojajuni, the Afenifere Youth Leader, who was reportedly kidnapped while traveling from the South-West to Abuja on February 17, 2025.
“The Nigeria Police Force is fully committed to securing his safe return and is deploying all necessary resources and expertise to achieve this objective,” Adejobi confirmed.
Police Warn Against Spreading Misinformation
While urging Nigerians to remain patient and cooperative, the police warned against the spread of unverified information regarding ongoing rescue efforts. They emphasized that misinformation could jeopardize security operations and endanger the safety of victims still in captivity.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in its mission to dismantle all criminal elements operating within our communities, with the ultimate goal of ensuring peace and security for all,” Adejobi concluded.
