Nigerian Air Force Intensifies Security Measures in Kebbi State

Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, reaffirmed that protecting the lives and property of Nigerians remains a non-negotiable priority for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF). His remarks came during an operational assessment visit to Kebbi State on August 10, 2025, aimed at strengthening regional security and reassuring citizens of the NAF’s commitment to national defense.

The visit, as detailed by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, included high-level engagements with senior military commanders, heads of other security agencies, and an inspection of key military infrastructure. This underscored the Nigerian Air Force’s readiness to respond swiftly and decisively to emerging threats in the North-West.

“Our commitment is clear: we will locate and root out all criminal elements threatening the peace and safety of law-abiding citizens. Nigeria must be secure for development to thrive,” Air Marshal Abubakar stated.

In addition to discussions with Governor Mohammed Nasir Idris and the Kebbi State Executive Council, the CAS emphasized the strategic importance of Kebbi, which shares international borders with the Republics of Benin and Niger and has vast rural terrains necessitating heightened security vigilance. He warned, “What affects Kebbi affects the entire North-West, and by extension, the peace and stability of our nation.”

Air Marshal Abubakar praised the readiness of troops and the effectiveness of security infrastructure in the state, stating, “I am highly impressed with what I saw on the ground.” He announced that intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance operations would be intensified, further bolstering the NAF’s operational capabilities.

In a significant update, the Nigerian Air Force has launched a new initiative to enhance joint operations with other security agencies in Kebbi. This initiative includes the establishment of a Rapid Response Team that will focus on quick mobilization to address security threats as they arise. The CAS commended the inter-agency synergy among the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Police, Department of State Services, and Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, highlighting their collective efforts in maintaining peace.
