Nigerian Army Base Attack By Terrorists
In a daring night attack, a Nigerian Army base that houses hundreds of terrorism suspects through an unique judicial process was the target.
The assault happened on October 29th night.
The strategic installation is situated not far from the Benin Republic border near the town of Wawa in the New Bussa region of Niger State, in Northcentral Nigeria.
Due to the remoteness of the area, the attack’s entire scope is yet unknown.
Kainji, where the Nigerian Air Force has a Training Group holding Alpha jets and the American-built A-29 Super Tucanos, is located in Kainji, which is the administrative centre of Niger’s Borgu Local Government Area, which is located in New Bussa.
The Army’s location is a few kilometres away from the air base.
Along with housing a portion of the Borgu national park, Kainji also houses a significant lake and a hydropower dam.
The Federal Government unveiled plans in 2017 for managing the more than 2,500 Boko Haram members detained at the Wawa Army facility.
An associate of Boko Haram was sentenced to 60 years in prison for a number of terrorist crimes in 2018, according to a report in the Nigerian news outlet Punch.
