Nigerian Army Enhances its Operational Capacity with Modern Equipment to Combat Insecurity
The Nigerian Army is using modern equipment to combat insecurity caused by bandits, terrorists, and other criminals in the country, according to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja.
Lagbaja, who was represented by Major General Godwin Mutkut, the Garrison Officer Commander 8 Division, at a media chat organised by the Nigerian Army civil-military cooperation in Sokoto on Wednesday, said that the new equipment and combat enablers have been deployed and their effects are being felt across various theatres of operations.
He assured that the Nigerian Army will continue to implement effective strategies that involve both kinetic and non-kinetic measures to fulfil their constitutional duties.
“Our troops are well trained and motivated to adequately discharge their constitutional responsibilities. The result of these efforts is increasing tempo in all our operations and some remarkable success across the theatres,” he said.
Lagbaja also stated that the Nigerian Army has deployed troops across all geopolitical zones in the country to address the different security challenges in each region.
He said that the security challenges would not be possible without the collaboration of some unpatriotic and unscrupulous persons in the society.
He urged the media not to give publicity to non-state actors who seek to undermine the security, wellbeing and collective prosperity of the country.
“These non-state actors seek attention and thrive on propaganda and rain of fear on well-meaning citizens. It is our collective efforts that would guarantee the effective decimation of insecurity and restoration of peace in our society.”
He also said that the best way to deal with the security challenges in the country is to harness the collective strength of all individuals and organisations in a whole-of-nation approach to defeat the common enemy of the nation.
He appreciated President Bola Tinubu for his continuous strategic guidance and unwavering support to the Nigerian Army since his assumption of office.
Also speaking, the Chief of civil-military affairs, Major General Nosakhare Ugbo, said that the Nigerian Army Civil-Military Cooperation Media Chat aims to provide the means to inform the public about the military activities and to engage with the media to strengthen and foster mutually beneficial ideas.
