Femi Falana, Senior Advocate of Nigeria and the legal counsel to ASUU, has voiced optimism that the Academic Staff Union of Universities strike will be called off in days rather than weeks.

On Monday, October 10, in Lagos, the Senior Advocate declared this at the book launch of Lanre Arogundade’s Breaking Coconut With Your Head.

In a matter of days, the ASUU strike would mark eight months since Nigerian undergraduates have been away from home over certain demands unmet by the Federal Government.

According to Falana, the legal struggle between the teachers and the federal government would be resolved outside of the courtroom.

The union commenced the nationwide industrial action on February 14, 2022, and has extended it several times due to its inability to reach a substantial agreement with the federal government.
Details later.
