Governor Fintiri: “Nigerians Are Suffering Due to Failing Economic Policies”
The Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, has voiced his concerns over the country’s economic challenges, stating that Nigerians are experiencing severe hardship as a result of ineffective federal government policies.
Fintiri made these remarks on Thursday during the National Reconciliation Committee meeting of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi, which was attended by key stakeholders, including the governors of Bauchi and Taraba, as well as the acting PDP National Chairman.
“Nigeria Is Bleeding” – Fintiri Warns of Economic Hardship
Governor Fintiri did not hold back in his assessment of Nigeria’s current economic state, expressing deep frustration with the policies of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration.
“Nigeria is bleeding. We are suffering, there is too much anger, and the economic policy is not working,” he stated.
He urged the Federal Government to reassess its policies, emphasizing that decisions should be made with the welfare of Nigerians in mind rather than external pressures from global financial institutions such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
PDP Seeks Reconciliation and Political Strength
The National Reconciliation Committee Chairman, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, also addressed party members, stating that the PDP is taking necessary steps to reposition itself for the 2027 general elections.
“The main purpose of the committee is to reach out to aggrieved members and those having issues, to re-establish a formidable political party in the country,” Oyinlola said.
Fintiri aligned with Oyinlola’s vision, stating that the committee’s efforts are timely given the ongoing challenges within the party.
Call for People-Centered Policies
The Adamawa governor further criticized the Federal Government’s approach, calling for policy revisions that prioritize the needs of Nigerian citizens rather than international organizations.
“Whatever will make us cry must not be part of your policy because the country belongs to us. It does not belong to the World Bank, IMF, or the international community,” he emphasized.
Fintiri’s remarks highlight growing concerns about the economic trajectory of Nigeria under the current administration, as citizens grapple with inflation, unemployment, and rising costs of living.
