Novena University, Ogume, Delta State, Librarian Emerges New Chairman of Nigerian Library Association

Novena University, Ogume, Delta State, Librarian, Dr. Azuka Chegwe has emerged as the new chairman of the Delta State chapter of the Nigerian Library Association (NLA). Dr. Chegwe’s emergence as the incumbent chairman of the body of library and information scientists came on the heels of a keenly contested election that featured diverse aspirants vying for the highly exalted office. The epoch making election and accompanying inauguration ceremony took place at the Senate Building of Southern Delta University (SDU), Ozoro, Delta State.
Dr. Azuka Chegwe (CLN) is the Librarian of Novena University, Ogume, Delta State, Nigeria where he also teaches the Use of Library, study skills, information literacy, and ICT. He is a certified librarian with many years of professional practice. He holds a Ph.D. in Library and Information Science from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.
In the words of one of the members of the Association and voter in the historic election, “Dr. Chegwe’s victory in the election was not just a victory but a resounding landslide that clearly bespoke the confidence and trust reposed on him by members of the association.”
Other observers and commentators on the election that threw up Dr. Chegwe, as the Association’s new leader, variously described him as “a dogged and resilient leader”; and “a man that is deeply committed to purpose and excellence.”
In the opinion of others, Dr. Chegwe’s consistency, dedication to mission, and unwavering drive to achieve set goals set him apart as a true goal-getter. They expressed enthusiastic optimism that under his leadership, the Delta State chapter of the Nigerian Library Association which he now superintends as Chairman, will experience revamped professionalism and progressive transformation as well as meaningful growth, among others.
Prior to his celebrated election victory and consequent inauguration as incumbent chairman, Dr. Chegwe had held preparatory offices for the top job as former public relations officer and immediate past Secretary General of the association.
Dr. Chegwe is a member of the Librarians Registration Council of Nigeria. He is an editor with loads of research articles published in both local and international journals across the world.
