The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Port Harcourt Area 2 Command, Onne, Rivers State, has generated a staggering N859 billion in revenue between May 2024 and July 2025, while also seizing contraband goods worth N200 billion.
The achievements came under the leadership of Muhammad Babandede, who recently completed his tenure as Customs Area Controller (CAC) before his appointment as an Assistant Comptroller General.
Revenue Performance Under Babandede’s Leadership
In a report issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Theophilus Duniya, the 15-month period showcased impressive monthly revenue collections, reflecting strict enforcement of customs laws and improved compliance by importers.

This consistent growth brought the total to N859 billion in 15 months.
Contraband Seized by Onne Customs
In addition to revenue performance, the Command also carried out significant seizures of contraband, disrupting illegal trade and protecting Nigerians.
Weapons and Ammunition
- 544 assorted rifles
- 112,500 rounds of live ammunition
Pharmaceuticals and Dangerous Drugs
- Over 75 million tablets of tramadol
- More than 14 million bottles of cough syrup with codeine
- 50 million tablets of other dangerous and expired medicines
The duty-paid value of these seizures was estimated at over N200 billion.

Adeniyi’s Message to Officers
The Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, commended Babandede and his officers for their dedication and professionalism.
“The Onne Customs, under the leadership of Muhammad Babandede, beat smugglers and importers of contraband at their own game,” Adeniyi said.
He stressed that the seizures were not only a customs success but also a national security priority, protecting citizens from illegal arms and harmful drugs.
