The Osun State Police Command said it would not tolerate any act capable of causing a crisis in the state as the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal delivers its judgment on Friday (today).
The command also said necessary security measures have been put in place to deal decisively, within the ambit of the law, with anyone or any group of persons who may attempt to foment trouble.
A statement by the command’s spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, on Thursday said police, working with other security agencies in the state, would not allow a breakdown of law and order in any part of the state.
It then assured law-abiding residents of adequate security before, during, and after the judgment.

The statement read in part, “Osun State Police Command wishes to assure the general public, especially the good people of the state, of adequate security before, during, and beyond the judgment.
“The Police, in collaboration with other security agencies in the state, have put all necessary security measures in place to deal decisively within the ambit of the law with anyone, group of persons who might attempt to foment trouble.
“Therefore, Osun State Police Command is using this medium to appeal to parents and guardians to warn their children and wards to stay out of trouble and violence.” They should not allow themselves to be used by any vicious politicians to cause a crisis in the state, as the command will not tolerate any kind of thuggery or hooliganism.”
“Osun State Police Command desires to assure the general public, especially the good people of the state, of adequate protection before, during, and beyond the judgment,” the statement said in part.
“The Police, working with other security agencies in the state, have put the essential security measures in place to deal with anyone, group of people, who would attempt to incite disturbance decisively within the bounds of the law.
In order to remind parents and guardians to advise their children and wards to keep out of trouble/violence, the Osun State Police Command is using this medium. Since the command would not accept any form of thuggery, they should refrain from allowing themselves to be used by ruthless politicians to instigate a crisis in the state.
