Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has expressed dismay over the arrest of one of the church’s pastors abroad. The incident occurred after the pastor addressed attendees at a programme as “Ladies and Gentlemen,” a phrase deemed discriminatory for failing to acknowledge all gender identities recognized in that culture.
Adeboye made this revelation during the church’s monthly thanksgiving service at the RCCG Throne of Grace in Lagos State. The sermon, titled “My Father’s House,” was broadcast across all RCCG parishes worldwide.

Using the incident as a cautionary tale, Adeboye remarked, “The end is nearer than you think. Things are getting worse, and this is a wake-up call.” He urged Christians to remain steadfast in their faith amidst mounting cultural challenges.
He also recounted another alarming story of a woman who referred to her dog as her husband. According to Adeboye, the woman, when asked about her spouse, said, “I took him to the vet before coming. He doesn’t talk,” describing the dog as her partner.
Adeboye noted that these occurrences signal the erosion of moral values globally, which he views as evidence of the biblical “end times.”
“Stay in Christ”: A Call for Spiritual Commitment
Adeboye appealed to Christians to take their faith seriously, urging, “Do not let anyone weaken your stand. God is holy. The devil wants to harvest you, but you must not give him the opportunity. I want to see you in my Father’s house.”
Criticism of Fashion Trends on RCCG Altars
The clergyman also reiterated his disapproval of modern fashion trends among church members, especially church workers. Speaking during the church’s 72nd annual convention in August, he criticized men wearing braided hair and women sporting false eyelashes and heavy makeup.
Adeboye stated that such appearances will no longer be tolerated on RCCG altars, emphasizing his commitment to upholding traditional Christian values.
