Chief Olagunsoye Oyinlola to Present Findings and Recommendations to National Working Committee

Ahead of the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for Thursday, the Chief Olagunsoye Oyinlola-led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Reconciliation Committee is set to brief the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) on its findings and potential recommendations. This briefing comes in anticipation of a crucial meeting of the PDP Governors Forum (PDP-GF) taking place today.

Reconciliation Committee Meeting and Report Finalization

The Reconciliation Committee convened yesterday at the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja to finalize its report in preparation for the presentation to the NWC, led by Amb. Umar Damagum. The NWC will subsequently review the report and present it to the NEC for ratification.

Speaking to reporters after a three-hour meeting with the PDP National Assembly caucus, Oyinlola emphasized the importance of understanding the political challenges facing the party. He stated, “As part of our assignment, we scheduled to meet with National Assembly members to share their experiences regarding the dwindling fortunes of our party politically. We’ve had useful discussions, and I believe there are suggestions that will help our party unite and remain formidable.”

Importance of Unity in the Party

Oyinlola highlighted that unity is essential for any political party aiming for success. “For any party to be able to go into battle and win, it must be united. That’s what we are striving for,” he added.

Focus on Upcoming Ondo Governorship Election

Regarding the upcoming Ondo governorship election, Oyinlola noted that the national reconciliation committee has been actively strategizing, particularly in the South-West region where the election is prominent. “We are putting our strategies into place for the Ondo election, focusing on reconciling any party members who may have disputes,” he explained.

When asked about the potential suspension of certain members, Oyinlola dismissed the idea as mere rumors, stating, “We are meeting with the National Working Committee tomorrow (today). After that, I can provide more clarity.”

Agenda for the PDP Governors Forum Meeting

In a related development, the PDP Governors Forum’s meeting is expected to discuss whether the NEC meeting will proceed as scheduled or if a new date will be set. Additionally, the forum will deliberate on the agenda for the upcoming meeting.

Conclusion

As the PDP prepares for these crucial meetings, the outcomes of the Reconciliation Committee’s findings and the discussions within the PDP-GF will play a significant role in shaping the party’s strategies moving forward.
