Police Save Head of Edo Traditional Court But Lose an Officer
Police command in Edo State has saved the head of the Edo traditional court but lost one of its officers during the operations.
At the end of the operations, Mrs. Prescious Aigbonoga, the president of the Edo Area Customary Court who was kidnapped is freed.
A police officer was murdered during the operation, according to Mr. Chidi Nwabuzor, the public relations officer for the Edo State Police Command, who confirmed her rescue on Thursday.
Nwabuzor added that Aigbonoga was freed by the military and police team at a location inside the forest called Scorpion Hill, where she had been detained.
Aigbonoga was abducted on Monday while travelling to the Igueben Local Government Area in Edo, where she holds the position of President of the Igueben Area Customary Court.
The NBA and the security agencies that made the release possible were commended by the Executive Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association’s Benin Branch, which is chaired by Chief Nosa Edo-Osagie.

Additionally, according to a statement issued by the Publicity Secretary, Festus Usiobaifo, “A source informed the chairman and his team (Dream Team) that his honour was recovered unharmed this morning, January 12, 2023.
According to reports, there was a fierce gunshot exchange between the police and the robbers while the victim was being rescued, and as a result, one of the brave police officers paid the ultimate price.
Usiobaifo claimed that the chairman thanked the police and praised them for their quick action in the rescue.
Additionally, the chairman expressed his condolences to Mohammed Dankwara, the state commissioner of police, on the loss of the officer.
According to him, the chairman and his colleagues were grateful to Nigerians, particularly to members of the Benin Bar, for supporting Aigbonoga’s family while she was held captive. NAN.
