As the festive season approaches, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has issued a directive for the immediate deployment of police operatives to critical locations and identified hotspots across Nigeria. The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, shared the update on Thursday, explaining the focus on:

“The IGP has directed adequate personnel deployment to ensure public safety during this period of increased mobility and celebrations,” Adejobi stated.

- On December 10, 2024, four suspected robbers were apprehended in the Costain area. The suspects—Akeem Alabi, Adewale Sogbesan, Emmanuel Izeagbe, and Francis Okoko—confessed to being part of a robbery syndicate.
- Anambra State:
- On December 6, 2024, police operatives arrested Miracle Mwakaloi, a suspected armed robber, in Awka. A subsequent search uncovered three AK-47 rifles in his possession.

The Inspector-General emphasized collaboration between the police and citizens, urging vigilance during the celebrations:
“The force remains committed to providing a secure environment during and beyond the Yuletide season. Citizens are encouraged to report all suspicious activities to the police and other law enforcement agencies,” Adejobi reassured.
