Gunmen are said to have attacked the Inyi Police Division in Enugu State’s Oji-River Local Government Area, killing two officers on duty. The thugs also set fire to the station after taking rifles and ammunition.
The attack, according to our source, took place in the early hours of Sunday morning at the Arum Inyi Police Division.
A video of the incident seen by our correspondent showed two dead, believed to be police officers, lying in front of the station’s perimeter fence.
The roof of a two-story police station is seen on fire in the video.
Voices in the video’s background identified one individual as a police officer, but the identity of the second person was disputed.
The incidence was reported to our correspondent by a resident of Arum Inyi, where the police station is located.
“Actually, I left the community on Saturday for Enugu,” the resident stated on condition of anonymity, “but I got information from my community a few hours ago that gunmen stormed the police station in my town and killed one police officer.” I don’t have any other information at the moment.”
A security advisory being posted on social media platforms in Enugu State’s capital cautioned citizens to be cautious and security mindful when moving around.

The warning said, “Warning! Achi, Inyi, Ojiriver, Ufuma, Umunze, Ajari, Arondiizogu, those axes are facing security challenges.
Let us always be security-conscious and avoid nighttime movement, and above all, let us always commit our going out and coming in into the blood of Almighty Jesus Christ, the Saviour.”
Attempts to obtain a response from the state police command on the incident were futile because the Command’s spokesman, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, was unable to take his calls or respond to a text message sent to him.
