Buhari Adopts The 2023 Budget

The 2023 Appropriations Bill has been enacted by President Muhammadu Buhari today, January 3, 2023.

In the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Ahmed Lawan, Speaker of the House of Representatives Femi Gbajabiamila, and other Federal Executive Council members witnessed Buhari’s signing of the 2023 transition budget.

Speaking at the occasion, President Buhari pledged that, as it neared May 29, 2023, his administration would expedite important national infrastructure projects.

President Buhari pointed out that the budget’s total expenditures total N21.83 trillion, an increase of N1.32 trillion over the initial executive proposal’s N20.51 trillion.

Following a private meeting with President Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja over the weekend, Senate President Ahmad Lawan informed the media that the President would sign the 2023 budget on Tuesday.

By the grace of God, Mr. President will sign the Appropriations Bill 2023 on Tuesday, according to Lawan.

This is due to the fact that we signed the documents yesterday after being delayed by some strange figures we had in the bill we had submitted to the National Assembly.

Thank God, however, that the Appropriations Bill 2023 was approved by the National Assembly on Wednesday in both chambers. I am confident that the President and his team will now endeavour to implement what we have accomplished.

And I anticipate that President Buhari will sign the Appropriation Bill 2023 first thing on Tuesday, the first day of the year that is officially designated as a working day.
