Regarding the upcoming general elections, the Social Democratic Group (SDP) has refuted a suggestion that it is allied with the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Rufus Aiyenigba, the party’s national publicity secretary, asked the public to ignore the “false assertion” at a news conference on Thursday in Abuja, claiming that it was not in the interests of the party or the country.
The SDP was allegedly mulling a coalition with Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), according to a statement made by “one Alfa Mohammed,” according to Aiyenigba.
He said that Mohammed, the former SDP deputy national publicity, was no longer a party member and was therefore unable to speak on its behalf because he had been expelled.
According to Aiyenigba, the party has previously rebuked Mohammed for his disrespect for etiquette and for publishing fake information.
He claimed that as a result of those activities, Mohammed was demoted from his role as the party’s deputy publicity secretary in November 2018 and later suspended by the National Working Committee in March 2019. (NWC).
Mohammed was later dismissed from the party, according to the speaker, by the National Executive Committee (NEC), whose decision was affirmed by the party’s National Convention in June 2022.

Mohammed is currently an APC member and an active participant in the South West Agenda for Asiwaju, one of the party’s support organisations (SWAGA).
“There is no possibility an individual playing such a role in the APC could be referred to as an SDP official.
Mohammed hasn’t participated in any SDP activities for four years, or since early 2019, but he has intermittently promoted made-up stories to deceive and swindle the people. This is true to his character.
The purpose of this is to maliciously damage the reputation of the targeted persons in the SDP or in another party by falsely claiming that they are a part of an SDP “faction,” despite the reality that there are no factions within the SDP.
Mohammed’s antics were formally reported to the Inspector General of Police in August 2022, according to Aiyenigba, who asked that he summon Mohammed to order for allegedly using “impersonation, false pretences, and conduct likely to provoke a breach of the peace.”
Indeed, Mohammed is being monitored and is being looked into for criminal impersonation.
“We urge all SDP members nationwide and the general public to overlook Mohammed’s careless writings while the Police continue their investigation into the mischief by Mohammed.
They are deceptive and malicious, and more importantly, they are not in the interests of social justice or our efforts to fight poverty and insecurity in our nation, according to Aiyenigba.
He claimed that the SDP was running for president in 2023 along with Prince Adewole Adebayo and that their goal was to win, not only for fun.
Adebayo, he claimed, has been speaking with Nigerians and other important parties about his desire to succeed and advance Nigeria. (NAN)
