Successful Nigerian Army Operation Rescues Six Students from Federal University Gusau, Zamfara
Nigerian Army has rescued six of the twenty-four students of the Federal University Gusau, Zamfara State kidnapped in the early hours of Friday as reported by Credible News Nigeria.
This was corroborated to our correspondent by a senior military source close to Commander of 1 Brigade Nigerian Army, Gusau, when the bandits invaded the Sabon-Gida hamlet in Bungudu Local Government Area.
He claimed that the operation in the forest along Tsafe Local Government Area (LGA) of the state is now being led by Brigadier General Sani Ahmed, the Brigade Commander, along with other security agencies.
Several bandits were neutralised during the current operation, and some weapons were found, the source added.

An earlier report from a student at the school, who wished to remain anonymous for security concerns, said that more than 24 classmates—mostly women—were kidnapped during the incident.
Nazeer Sabon-Gida, a resident of Sabon-Gida, also stated that the gunmen broke into the neighbourhood around three am and started shooting indiscriminately.
According to him, three students’ hostels were attacked and all the students in the hostels were taken away by the bandits.
In a related development, the Zamfara State Police Command confirmed the abduction of the students.
The spokesperson for the command, ASP Yazid Abubakar, in a telephone conversation on Friday said the command has yet to confirm the number of the students abducted.
He also confirmed that the rescue operation was ongoing.
