Abeokuta, Nigeria – July 2025 – The Olusegun Obasanjo Leadership Institute (OOLI) is poised for a transformative journey with the recent appointment of Professor Adedeji Daramola as its new Deputy Chief Executive. A highly respected administrator with a distinguished background, Professor Daramola is set to spearhead OOLI’s mission to reshape Africa’s leadership narrative.

In his inaugural remarks, Professor Daramola emphasized the importance of collaboration among public and private sector stakeholders. “Our institute is more than an educational center; it is a vibrant movement dedicated to cultivating visionary, ethical, and transformative leaders,” he stated. “We are committed to equipping Nigerian and African leaders with the necessary skills to promote peace and drive sustainable economic development.”

The Institute is under the guidance of a prestigious Board of Trustees, chaired by former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo. The Board includes prominent figures such as former South African President Kgalema Motlanthe, Senegalese President Macky Sall, and former Mauritian President Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, along with renowned diplomats, academics, and industry leaders including Dr. Amre Moussa, Ambassador Desker, and Professor PLO Lumumba. This esteemed panel provides strategic oversight and vital insights, ensuring that OOLI’s programs remain at the forefront of leadership development.

Founded by Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, OOLI uniquely combines military discipline with academic rigor to offer world-class leadership training. Its extensive curriculum covers vital areas such as public policy, business innovation, diplomacy, sustainable development, and a dedicated track on wealth creation. With flexible learning options that range from intensive three-month short courses to nine-month postgraduate diplomas and two-year master’s specializations, OOLI presents a distinctly African perspective on transformational leadership, aligning with global standards set by institutions like the John F. Kennedy School of Government and the Bush Institute.

“Together, we can establish a legacy of ethical leadership, create innovative pathways, and secure a prosperous future for Nigeria and Africa,” Professor Daramola concluded.
