WAEC Announces 2024 Computer-Based WASSCE for Private Candidates: Registration Extended and New Exam Format Introduced

By DAYO ADESULU

In an exciting announcement for aspiring candidates, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has revealed plans for the Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (CB-WASSCE) for Private Candidates in its 2024 Second Series.

Set to take place from October 25 to December 20, 2024, this innovative examination format promises to blend traditional and modern assessment methods.

The CB-WASSCE will employ a hybrid approach, where candidates will engage with multiple-choice questions on-screen while still using traditional answer booklets for essay and practical questions.

This flexibility caters to different learning preferences and provides an inclusive examination environment. For those who prefer a more conventional approach, WAEC has also introduced the option to complete the entire exam using Paper and Pen.

In a bid to accommodate more candidates, WAEC has extended the registration deadline to October 29, 2024. Additionally, the “Walk-in-Candidate” option will be available, allowing students to register just 24 hours before their chosen exam paper, ensuring that last-minute candidates can still participate.

To support students in their preparation, WAEC encourages all candidates to utilize the various learning resources at their disposal. These include signing up for the WAEC e-Study platform, purchasing past examination question books, and engaging with fellow candidates on the WAECKonnect platform, where they can share insights and study tips.

As the examination date approaches, WAEC wishes all candidates the best of luck and remains committed to leveraging technology to enhance accessibility and streamline the examination process. With innovative approaches in place, the Council is dedicated to ensuring that every candidate can succeed in their academic pursuits.

This announcement was issued by the Public Affairs Department of WAEC, signed by Adesina Moyosola Fadekemi, the Acting Head of the department, and is a testament to the Council’s ongoing efforts to adapt and evolve in the ever-changing educational landscape.
