The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has said that the early morning fire incident at the WAEC National Office, Yaba, Lagos. It was swiftly contained by a combined team of fire fighters.
According to Moyosola Adesina, the WAEC, Head of Public Affairs Department, no life was lost and all important documents and records are intact.
In a release made available to Credible News, she said: “The Management of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), wishes to inform the general public that there was an early morning fire incident at the WAEC National Office, Yaba, Lagos. It was swiftly contained by a combined team of fire fighters. Thankfully, no life was lost and all important documents and records are intact.”
Recall that in the early hours of Wednesday, a fire gutted the West Africa Examination Council, WAEC building in the Yaba area of Lagos State.
According to reports, several people are still trapped inside the burning building.
As of 7.15 a.m., the cause of the fire, which began around 6.50 a.m., had not been determined. The fire had started in the middle of the high-rise building, with those trapped inside frantically calling for help.
According to reports, men from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and other emergency responders are currently on the scene putting out the raging fire.
