The Lagos State University (LASU) has retained its position as the best University in Nigeria and West Africa in the newly released 2023 Universitas Indonesia (UI) GreenMetric Global Ranking.
The ranking, which rated 1,183 universities from around the world on green climate metric, also rated LASU as number 761 globally and the second best in Sub-Saharan Africa after Hawassa University, Ethiopia but ahead of University of Kwazulu Natal, South Africa, Central University of Technology, Free State, South Africa, etc.
The result of the ranking was announced in a grand event hosted by Abu Dhabi University, United Arab Emirates, on Tuesday, 5th December 2023.
The UI GreenMetric World University Ranking is a ranking on green campus and environmental sustainability initiated by Universitas Indonesia in 2010. Through thirty-nine (39) indicators in six (6) criteria, UI GreenMetric World University Rankings prudently determined the rankings by universities’ environmental commitment and initiatives.
It is the second time that LASU would be participating in the ranking, which, according to the organisers, uses 39 indicators and 6 criteria, i.e. Setting and Infrastructure (SI), Energy and Climate Change (EC), Waste (WS), Water (WR), Transportation (TR), and Education (ED) in rating entries.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM congratulates the entire LASU community on this feat.
