Tanko Yakasai, an elder statesman and human rights advocate from Kano, received harsh criticism from the Presidency on Wednesday for “questioning the allegiance” of President Muhammadu Buhari regarding his backing of Bola Tinubu, the APC’s presidential candidate.
This was true, as it was stated, because the President’s recent attendance at party campaign rallies conflicted with Yakasai’s recent claims that Buhari wasn’t supporting the APC nominee.
As a result, it was stated that the President’s “support for the party’s candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, is undeniable.”
This information was provided by Garba Shehu, Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant for Media and Publicity, in a statement he released on Wednesday under the heading “On Alhaji Tanko Yakasai’s Questioning of the President’s Support for the APC at the Coming Election.”
The senior statesmen questioned Buhari’s support for the APC presidential candidate in a recent interview on Control TV.
“What I realize is that I’m not sure if Buhari is satisfied with Tinubu’s candidacy,” Yakasai stated. The problem is that.
“He is the APC since he was elected President on the APC platform, but is he devoted to Tinubu’s administration? I am not sure.
Yakassai replied, “I don’t know, but I have not seen the commitment from him supporting the ticket of Tinubu in the APC.
“I’m not sure if it’s APC or not, but from my appraisal of the scenario, it’s clear that Tinubu’s personality doesn’t make him happy.”
However, Yakasai is wrong, according to the Presidency.
Shehu said in the statement that the APC was unaware of Alhaji Tanko Yakasai. Everyone is free to hold their own opinions, but we do know that the man’s recent interview revealed some knowledge that was not shared by the president’s administration or the party.

“His backing of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is appreciated, but it’s unclear what value it will provide.
He is correct to emphasize that his leadership in government and capacity to bridge gaps are key preconditions for holding the highest office.
“However, Yakasai’s criticism of President Muhammadu Buhari’s loyalty contrasts sharply with the President’s deeds. He just attended a rally in Bauchi on Monday to endorse the party’s flag bearer.
He has further scheduled campaign visits in the upcoming weeks, pending presidential commitments.
He has unwavering support for the party’s nominee, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
The Presidency urged Nigerians not to take Yakassai’s remarks seriously, stating, “Perhaps the old man needs a little support because times are tough.
“Yakasai’s foolish remark on the matter would have been disregarded as a misquotation if this hadn’t been shown on television. However, he was broadcast live on television.”
