LASU Wellness Program Empowers Students with Anti-Drug Message for a Successful Future
The Buba Marwa Auditorium on the Main Campus in Ojo, Lagos, on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 hosted a one-day seminar on mental wellbeing for students sponsored by the Lagos State University Career Development Centre (LCDC) and Medquest Pharmacy Plus.
The facilitators during the programme gave the students advice to abstain from drug usage in order to fulfil their goals and succeed in life.
The programme, with the theme “Responsible Drug Use, Empowering the Youths, Business Models Pre and Post University,” focused on how students may combine their health with their academics and navigate their route to shine in their careers.
While delivering her address, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, thanked the centre for organising such a programme at this time given the prevalence of drug abuse among the teeming youths.
She also cautioned all the students in attendance to pay close attention to all the speakers about the significance of responsible drug use, the danger in drug abuse, and its effects on one’s health.
She opened the occasion after the speech. In her welcome address earlier, the LCDC Director, Prof. Olabisi Obadofin, declared that the program’s main goal was to provide a secure future for the university’s top students.
Prof. Obadofin continued by saying that the initiative intended to unite all of the academic institution’s efforts with all pertinent organisations to provide a secure atmosphere free from drug and substance misuse for the students and young people in the community.
Health & Wellness Coach and Pharm. Folasade Ajayi, who spoke on “Responsible Drug Use and How to Recognise Signs of Substance Abuse,” were among the event’s facilitators.
Speaking on “Financial Intelligence for Sustainable Health and Wealth” was wellness entrepreneur Mrs. Chima Ejimofor and certified digital wellness coach Mrs. Fehintola Onagoruwa, among others.
The “Forever Wealthy Wellness Warriors in Lagos State University” initiative launch and the gift-giving to some facilitators and attendees were the event’s highlights.
The programme was concluded with a vote of gratitude from Assistant Director Dr. K. O. Ajelara. Deputy Director Dr. Modina Osundiya, Career Advisor Dr. W. A. Badru, Principal Assistant Registrar Mrs. V. M. Arewa, and Chief Personal Secretary Mrs. Kate Joe-Musa are among the LCDC staff members present.
