Peter Obi Strongly Condemns Supreme Court’s Decision, Alleging Ignored Rigging and Identity Theft

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party in the 2023 general election, has expressed his disagreement with the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

During a press conference, Obi stated that the Supreme Court overlooked important issues such as rigging, identity theft, forgery, and perjury in their judgment. He believes that the court’s decision does not align with the principles outlined in the constitution.

This rejection of the Supreme Court’s verdict follows Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), also expressing his disagreement with the decision. Abubakar, in his own press conference on October 30, described the verdict as a “travesty of justice” and warned of negative consequences for Nigerian democracy.

On October 26, the Supreme Court upheld Tinubu’s election as president. Tinubu was initially declared the winner of the February 25 presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). However, both Obi and Abubakar contested the election results.

The Supreme Court ultimately dismissed the petitions of Obi and Abubakar, stating that they had not provided enough evidence to support their claims.
