Clark Declares Support For Peter Obi
Few days after former Nigerian President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo endorsed Peter Obi as President of Nigeria, the former federal Commissioner for Information and South-South Leader, Chief Edwin Clark, has also backed Labour Party, LP, Presidential Candidate Peter Obi as his candidate for the February Presidential election.
Clark, who is now speaking to journalists at his Asokoro residence in Abuja, stated that with Obi as president, Nigeria will be united through his efforts to reform the country.
Clark believes that the future president of the United States should be educated and experienced and that the South East should be permitted to create the next president because the region has the resources and education to rule the country.
“I have subsequently been fully briefed on the successful conclusion of the interaction held at that occasion,” Clark added. Among other things, I took note of the following observations made throughout the meeting:
“That PANDEF addressed to the Presidential Candidate the expectations and demands of the peoples of the Niger Delta, including infrastructure development, devolution of power, resource control, effective and inclusive involvement in the oil and gas sector, among other things.”
Clark said: “The vision statement shared by His Excellency Peter Obi at the occasion, as it relates to making Nigeria more productive, using the rich resource endowment in every part of the country; curbing waste and fighting corruption; and creating jobs for our teeming youths through innovative initiatives is very commendable.

“That his repeated commitment to restructuring and devolution of power, will encourage concord, peaceful coexistence amongst the states and constituent areas of the country.
Clark added: “That his vision for more equity and justice as it pertains to the South-South region, which in the last sixty years has produced much of the revenue for the national economy, but has been neglected with little consequence in terms of infrastructure and social development, is persuasive and laudable.
“Peter Obi’s commitment to environmental justice and the cleanup of polluted towns in the Niger Delta is greatly appreciated, given that even the continuing Ogoni cleanup has been delayed.”
“His pledge to include competent Niger Delta residents in the national governing process in the future administration if elected is very reassuring,” Clark said.
