NECO Releases 2022 SSCE Results

The results of the 2022 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination have been released by Professor Dantani Wushishi, the registrar of the National Examinations Council, NECO.

Wushishi made this public on Thursday at the NECO Headquarters in Minna, Niger State.

In addition to the outcomes, Wushishi said that 29 supervisors were placed on a blacklist by the council due to their alleged involvement in numerous malpractice offences.

He added that four institutions had their recognition revoked for two years due to repeated violations.

Wushishi further disclosed that compared to previous years, the council saw a decrease in cheating during the internal senior school certificate exams in 2022.

He said that there has been a noticeable decrease in examination fraud.

Wushishi said: “In the area of malpractices, 13, 595 were caught as against 20, 003 in year 2021, which showed appreciable decline in number of malpractices cases.”

“Twenty-nine supervisors were blacklisted for various offends ranging from poor supervision, insult, aiding and abetting during the examinations”.

According to Wushishi, 1, 209,703 individuals enrolled for the examinations, but only 1, 198,412 of them actually took the test.

He added that there were 727, 864 candidates—or 60.74 per cent—who received five credits or more, including English Language and Mathematics.

Wushishi further mentioned that there are 1, 031 individuals with special needs, among whom 98 have albinism, 177 have autism, 574 have hearing loss, and 107 have vision impairments.

In the breakdown, Wushishi noted that 1,209,703 candidates registered for the examination with 636,327 male, representing 52.60 per cent and 573,376 female, representing 47.39 per cent.

The NECO boss, however, said only 1,198,412 candidates actually sat for the examination with 630,180 male, representing 52.58 per cent and 568,232 female, representing 47.41 per cent.

“Number of candidates with Special Needs is 1,031, with the breakdown as follows: 98 with albinism, 177 with autism, 574 with hearing impairment, and 107, visually impaired.

“Number of candidates who made Credit and above in English Language is 889,188 representing 74.89%.

“Number of candidates who made Credit and above in Mathematics is 929,140 representing 78.23%, as shown in Table 2.
