APC Expels Former Osun Governor Rauf Aregbesola Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially expelled former Osun State Governor and ex-Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, over alleged anti-party activities.

Aregbesola, who governed Osun State for two terms, was the leader of a faction within the APC known as The Osun Progressives (TOP), later rebranded as the Omoluabi Caucus.

Expulsion Letter Cites Party Constitution Violation

The APC leadership confirmed his expulsion in an official letter titled: “Allegations of Anti-Party Activities – Conveyance of State Exco Decision to You.”

According to the letter, Aregbesola was found guilty of violating Article 21 of the APC constitution, which outlines disciplinary measures for members engaged in activities that undermine party unity.

The letter stated:

“At the end of the investigation, the State Executive Committee (SEC) considered the report of the Disciplinary Committee. Having carefully reviewed the findings and recommendations, the SEC resolved to approve your immediate expulsion from the APC.”

“The decision was predicated on clear evidence of your actions, which undermined the unity and integrity of the party. As a result, you are no longer a member of the APC and must refrain from holding yourself out as one or acting on behalf of the party in any capacity.”

Fallout from Omoluabi Caucus Meeting

Aregbesola’s expulsion follows a recent Omoluabi Caucus meeting, where the faction, led by Aregbesola, announced its decision to exit the APC, citing concerns over the party’s declining influence in Osun State.

His removal marks a significant political shift in Osun’s APC landscape, with observers watching closely for Aregbesola’s next political move.
